“The Winds of Katrina” clearly reveals that the massive storm consisted of extremely powerful winds, both straight-line and rotating, and that these destructive winds began on the coast well before the arrival of the record-breaking storm surge. The strength and location of the these winds, as well as how they achieved destructive intensities, are documented through the use of satellite and radar imagery, aircraft reconnaissance and surface observations.
